Main Project Image

A toy concept that transforms ordinary retail packaging into an imaginative play adventure. Designed for children ages 5 to 8, this toy sparks creativity, inspires storytelling, and helps reduce waste by turning everyday packaging into exciting new worlds.

This design project aims to address the environmental impact of single-use toy packaging by transforming it into an integral part of the play experience. Instead of being discarded after serving its protective and branding functions, the packaging is thoughtfully designed to encourage children to reuse and repurpose it for creative activities. By leveraging sustainable, locally-produced cardstock, the entire packaging is utilized, resulting in zero material waste. The goal is to instill an appreciation for sustainability and resourcefulness in children, while providing them with an engaging, hands-on design experience that extends the value and lifecycle of every package.

The design features a complete toy set, where both the characters and buildings are made from cardstock sheets. Each sheet includes pre-cut guide lines, enabling the child or their companion to easily separate the pieces by gently pulling them apart. The material also invites children to personalize the pieces by drawing on them, encouraging creativity and further engagement.
